For most weddings, yes on practicality. A Fujifilm QuickSnap costs $21.99 at Target and The Darkroom develops and scans single-use cameras from $14, so roughly $36 per camera before shipping, with a wait of days and a roll you can lose (prices checked September 2026). Real film does give genuine grain, so the sweet spot is a digital app as the main system and one or two physical disposables on tables as a novelty.

Yes. Pix Wedding's free tier covers 20 guest uploads with no credit card required. Scene Disposable is free for up to 5 guests per event (Source: scenedisposable.com/pricing, checked September 2026). POV is free for up to 10 guests, JoinMyMoment for up to 10 guests, Lense for up to 7, and Once.film for up to 5 participants. PixelParty offers one free trial event. For a wedding or any event past a handful of guests, you will outgrow every free tier and need a paid plan.

Disposable. (disposable.app) says it is free to use. Guests scan a QR code with nothing to download, on iPhone or Android, and each guest can take up to 10 photos unless you upgrade the event camera. Photos stay visible only to the host until the host shares them. Its site lists no paid prices, no video and no live display, so it suits a casual party better than a wedding where you want videos and full coverage. We keep it out of the 8-app table because its paid limits are not published (checked September 24, 2026).

Not on Pix Wedding. Every paid plan, from $49 one-time, covers unlimited guests, and each guest gets the same film roll shot limit you pick (1 to 100), so the price is the same whether 40 people show up or 400. The film-style apps price by headcount instead: Scene Disposable charges $39.99 for its 100-guest XL tier and $59.99 for its 150-guest XXL tier (Source: scenedisposable.com/pricing, checked September 2026), and Once.film lists $29.99 for 100 participants and $49.99 for 150 on the US App Store (checked September 17, 2026).

Paid rolls are priced by participant count on the US App Store: $1.99 for 10, $4.99 for 25, $29.99 for 100, $49.99 for 150 and $69.99 for 200, with unlimited shots sold as a separate upgrade (checked September 17, 2026). There is no listed tier above 200, and Once.film runs on iPhone only, so Android guests cannot join.

POV wins if you want a printed photobook, and it shows paid prices only inside its app.

Yes. The owner sees the photos throughout. Guests cannot browse the film roll album until the reveal date the host sets. The host can delete photos individually or in bulk and separately control guest viewing and downloads. This does not hide photos already saved on a guest phone.
