Three ways to get a wedding QR code sign
A Canva template gives you the look. It does not give you the thing the code points to. For a photo sign, the code has to open a place where guests can drop their photos, so you need two pieces: a design and an album link. Here is how the routes compare.

Meet the designerWhat a Canva QR code is, and what it is not
Canva has a free QR code generator built into the editor. It turns any web address into a code you can style and place on a design. It does not host photos or give you an album. The code only opens whatever link you give it.
The link is baked in
- Made from Elements (search "QR code", then Create static) or from the QR codes app
- Paste the address, pick colors, corners and pattern, click Generate code
- Fine for a Pix album, because your upload link never changes
- Canva says a static code cannot be turned into a dynamic one later
The link can change later
- Change the link once and the code updates in every design that uses it
- Canva says dynamic codes do not expire
- Only the creator can edit the link, so make it from an account you will keep
- Can be deactivated if the linked content breaks Canva's guidelines
The logo detail most guides skip. Codes made on Canva Free, Pro and Education accounts carry a Canva logo by default. Only Business, Enterprise and Nonprofit accounts can swap it, and those plans also add expiry dates, fallback links and scan insights. Codes download as PNG, JPG, SVG or PDF. How to add your photo-sharing QR code to a Canva template
This is the route most couples take: a Canva design that matches the invites, with a code that opens a real upload page. Plan on one sitting, most of it spent on the wording.

Create your photo album and get its QR code
Make a free Pix Wedding event (20 guest uploads, no card). Your dashboard shows the upload link guests will land on, plus Download QR (PNG) and Download QR (SVG) buttons. SVG stays sharp at any print size, so grab that one for Canva.

Open a Canva wedding QR template
Pick one of the six templates below or search Canva for "wedding QR code sign". Click Customize free template and it opens in your own Canva account as an editable copy.

Delete the sample QR code
QR templates ship with a placeholder code that points nowhere useful. Click it and delete it so no guest ever scans the wrong one.

Upload your QR and drop it in
Upload the PNG or SVG from step one into Canva and drag it where the sample was. Resize it from a corner so it stays square, and leave a clear white border around it.

Edit the names, date and wording
Type your names and date, then one short line telling guests what the code does. There are wording ideas further down this page if you are stuck.

Scan-test before you print
Point two different phones at the design on your screen, one iPhone and one Android if you can. Both should open your upload page. Then download as PDF for printing, or PNG for a screen.

It was published in November 2024, so a menu or two may have moved since. The step that matters is the same: whatever link you paste becomes the code, so paste your album's upload link, not a folder guests cannot add to.

QR sign wording that gets scanned
Guests only glance at a sign. Keep it to your names, the date and one line that says what the code does. Pick a tone that matches the rest of your stationery.

Print and placement tips for a QR sign that works
A pretty sign that nobody can scan is decor. These are the checks that keep it working in a dim reception room.
Print checklist
- Dark code on a light background. Light-on-dark and low-contrast pastel codes are the ones phones struggle with.
- Keep a clear margin around the code. Do not let flowers, frames or text touch its edges.
- Size it for the distance. A table card is read at arm's length; an entrance sign is read from a few steps away and needs a much bigger code.
- Use the SVG or a PDF export for print. A small PNG stretched onto a big poster can print soft around the edges.
- Matte paper or matte lamination. Glossy finishes can throw glare from venue lights right across the code.
- Print one proof at real size first and scan it from where a guest will stand or sit.
- Order a spare set of table cards. Drinks get spilled on paper.
Entrance or welcome table
A poster or letter-size sign on an easel. Guests see it first, before the phones come out.
Every guest table
A table tent or A6 card per table. This is where guests sit with their phones between courses.
The bar
People wait here with a free hand. A small sign at eye level gets scanned.
Photo booth or backdrop
Photos taken right there can go straight into the album while the moment is fresh.
Favors and place cards
A 65 mm square card or a round sticker on each favor goes home with guests, so late uploads still happen.
A mention from the mic
Ask your DJ or MC to point at the signs once during dinner. A sign nobody looks at does not get scanned.

Seven QR sign mistakes that cost you photos
Leaving the template's sample QR in place
It is the most common slip with any QR template. Guests scan, land on the template maker's placeholder, and give up.
Using a link that asks guests to sign in
If the code opens something that needs an account or an app, many guests will stop right there. Pick a link that opens an upload page in the browser.
Printing before testing
Test the final file, not an earlier draft. A last-minute resize can squash the code or crop its margin.
Stretching the code to fit a shape
A QR code has to stay square. Resize from a corner with the proportions locked.
Too much wording
Guests only glance at a sign. One line and the code beats a paragraph of instructions.
Hiding it in one spot
One sign by the door gets seen once. Cards on tables get seen all night.
Using a dynamic code you might lose access to
Canva says only the person who created a dynamic QR code can edit its link. Make it from the account you will still use after the wedding.

Yes. Canva has a set of wedding QR code signs, table cards and small cards. The six we link on this page each showed a Customize free template button when we checked them on September 24, 2026. Canva's wedding QR search also returns a lot of generic business flyers, so filter by the wedding-specific names or start from our list.
Open your design, go to Elements and search for "QR code". Canva offers Create static or Create dynamic. For a static code you paste the web address, adjust the colors, corners and pattern, and click Generate code. You can also open Apps and search "QR codes" to make a static code. Codes download as PNG, JPG, SVG or PDF.
Canva calls it a free QR code generator. Codes made on Free, Pro and Education accounts carry a Canva logo by default. Business, Enterprise and Nonprofit accounts can replace that logo and set an expiry date with a fallback link. If you use the QR code from your Pix Wedding dashboard instead, there is no Canva logo in it at all.
