Wedtrove publishes a clear number, and credit where it is due: "the photos and videos are available for 12 months," with cloud storage listed as "Secure for 1 Year" and the upload period as 1 year (checked on wedtrove.com in September 2026). That is meaningfully better than the 30 to 90 day windows that are still common in this category, and Wedtrove markets it as a headline advantage for exactly that reason.

The part couples underestimate is when the clock starts. If you buy nine months before the wedding so you can send the link with save-the-dates, a twelve month window leaves roughly three months of post-wedding access. That is the period when photos matter most: thank you cards, the photo book, the parents who keep asking for the one where everyone is laughing. Wedtrove's FAQ says you can contact them about extending storage, which is a real option, but it is a support request rather than a price you can plan around.

Pix Wedding publishes the window per tier instead: 6 months on Starter, 1 year on Standard, 2 years on Pro. Starter is shorter than Wedtrove's year and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Standard matches it. Pro doubles it. And on every paid tier the full-quality ZIP download is included and stays yours, which changes the question from "how long do I have" to "did I download it yet."

Both platforms let you download originals. Wedtrove's FAQ says you can "download all photos and videos in full quality anytime you want," and that is a genuine strength worth stating plainly. Nothing is trapped behind a compressed preview and there is no upsell to get your own files at their real resolution.

The difference is structural. On Wedtrove, downloading is something you do inside the window. On Pix Wedding, the full-quality ZIP is a deliverable that comes with every paid plan, so the archive exists as an object you own rather than an action you have to remember to perform before a date you have probably forgotten.

That distinction sounds small until you talk to couples eighteen months out. The ones who lost photos almost never lost them because a platform behaved badly. They lost them because life happened, the reminder never got set, and a link quietly stopped working. Design your setup so forgetting is survivable.

This is Wedtrove's strongest card and it deserves a straight answer. Their FAQ states you can create multiple galleries such as reception, wedding ceremony, and rehearsal dinner, and that "each gallery comes with its own unique QR code," which lets you give guests access to specific events. Their interface strings reference 15 galleries on the package. For a three day wedding weekend with different guest lists at each event, that is exactly the right shape.

Pix Wedding uses the opposite model: one event album, one QR code guests scan everywhere, then up to 6 sub-albums you sort into afterwards on Standard and Pro. The advantage is that guests never have to work out which code is the right code, and nothing lands in the wrong gallery because someone scanned the rehearsal card at the reception. The cost is that separation happens after the fact rather than at capture.

Pick by guest list, not by feature count. Different guest lists per event favors Wedtrove. One guest list across a single day favors one code and post-event sorting.

Wedtrove markets "Unlimited Full-Resolution" photo and video uploads in its comparison table. Their FAQ is more specific: asked "Is video upload supported?" the answer reads "Available in the Premium package only: Guests can upload videos in full quality" (checked September 2026). Both statements are consistent, but only one of them tells you which package to buy.

This matters more than a feature checkbox suggests. The speeches, the first dance, the moment your grandmother stood up unprompted: guests capture those as video far more often than as stills. If video sits behind a tier and you bought the entry package, you find out at the reception when someone says the upload will not go through.

The specific dollar figure loads client side on their pricing page, so it depends on whatever offer is running when you land. The honest read on price: both are in the same ballpark and neither is a subscription. Choose on the storage and export behavior, the video tier, and whether you need separate galleries. Those differences are structural. The price difference is noise by comparison.
