GuestPix vs The Guest

GuestPix charges once per event, with four tiers. The Classic plan (roughly $49 based on GuestPix's own pricing page and corroborating third-party pricing trackers) covers one gallery with a 3-month upload window and 12 months of hosting, but caps video and skips the branded slideshow. Move up to Signature (roughly $79 to $119) and you add HD video, a custom color theme, and a full 12 months of both upload and hosting. The top tier, Signature Bundle (roughly $177), covers three separate galleries under one purchase, useful if you want the engagement party, rehearsal dinner, and wedding day each in their own space.

The Guest, while it was active, did not have a comparable pricing page to compare against, because it was free. The Knot originally charged for the app under its earlier name, Veri, then waived that fee and bundled it with a free Knot planning account. That "free" model is part of why the comparison broke down: a feature given away inside a much larger free product does not carry the same commercial pressure to keep improving that a standalone paid product does, and The Knot eventually retired it rather than continuing to invest in it as its own line item.

The practical takeaway if you are pricing this out today: GuestPix's numbers are real and current. Any number you see for The Guest is a historical artifact of a product that no longer accepts new customers.

GuestPix's guest-facing flow is a QR code scan or a tapped link that opens directly in the guest's mobile browser. No app, no account creation, no login. That matters because app-install requirements are consistently one of the biggest drop-off points in wedding photo collection: guests who are mid-reception are unlikely to stop and install something new on their phone.

The Guest took a different approach while it was running. It required the app to be installed so it could automatically detect and upload photos and videos from a guest's camera roll without them manually opening it each time. That was a genuinely clever piece of engineering for guests who already had the app, but it meant every guest who had not previously installed it faced the exact friction GuestPix's QR flow avoids.

Since The Guest cannot be used for a new event today, this is a moot comparison for anyone actually planning a wedding right now, but it is useful context if you are trying to understand why the two products felt different when both were live.

GuestPix advertises a branded slideshow as part of its Signature and Signature Bundle tiers, meant to run on a TV or projector at the reception and pull in new photos as guests upload them. It is bundled with the written and video guestbook on the same tiers, so the reception-display piece is not an extra add-on if you are already on Signature or above.

We could not find documentation of a comparable live-slideshow feature for The Guest in any surviving materials, official or third-party. That does not necessarily mean it never existed in some form, but there is no current source to confirm feature parity here, so we are not going to claim one either way.

This is where the honest verdict lives. GuestPix's hosting window runs from 12 to 24 months depending on the tier you buy, counted from the event date or purchase date. That is not lifetime access, and it is worth knowing before you buy, but it is a documented, currently working feature.

The Guest's post-wedding access timeline effectively ended twice. First, new event creation stopped on October 12, 2022. Second, even couples who already had photos stored in the app lost the ability to download them after June 2024. If you used The Guest for a wedding before 2022 and never pulled your photos out, there is a real chance that content is no longer retrievable through the app today.

The lesson that applies regardless of which tool you pick going forward: whatever photo-sharing product you choose, confirm what happens to your gallery a year, three years, and five years later, before you need the answer.
