The complete guide to Pix Wedding: how guests upload photos by QR code with no app, what each plan costs ($49 to $89 once), pros, cons and who it suits.

**The short version**

Pix Wedding is a QR code photo and video sharing app for weddings. You create an album, print its QR code, and guests scan it with their phone camera to upload photos and videos straight from the browser, with no app and no account. Everything lands in one private gallery that you control and can download as a ZIP. You can start free with up to 20 guest uploads and no card. Paid plans are one-time payments of $49, $59 or $89 with unlimited photos and videos.

- **How guests join:** Scan one QR code
- **Guests need:** A phone browser, no app
- **Price:** Free, then $49 to $89
- **You get:** One private gallery

## What Pix Wedding Is (and What It Is Not)

Pix Wedding solves one problem: the photos your guests take end up scattered across dozens of phones, group chats and social accounts, and most of them never reach you. Pix Wedding gives the whole wedding one shared album with one QR code. Guests point their camera at the code, tap the link, pick photos or videos and upload. They never see an app store page, a sign-up form or a password.

It is built for the guest side of the day. It does not replace a professional photographer, and it is not a marketplace for hiring one. Most couples use both: the photographer covers the formal shots, and guests fill the album with candid moments from their tables, the dance floor and the after-party. If your photographer wants their shots in the same gallery, Standard and Pro include a [private photographer upload link](/features/photographer-upload-link).

**What it is**

- A private shared album for one wedding or event
- One QR code that guests scan with their normal phone camera
- Browser upload for photos and videos, with no app and no account
- A gallery you control: approve, hide, move or delete uploads
- A one-time purchase, not a subscription

**What it is not**

- A replacement for your professional photographer
- A photographer marketplace or booking service
- A public social feed that strangers can browse
- An app your guests have to install
- Permanent cloud storage (paid plans keep albums for 6 to 24 months)

## How It Works for the Couple: Setup in Five Steps

Setup takes one sitting. Nothing has to be installed on your side either: the dashboard runs in the browser on a laptop or phone.

1. **Step 1: Create your album** Sign up at pix.wedding with your email and create an event with your names and date. The free plan starts right away, no card needed.
2. **Step 2: Choose your guest settings** Decide whether guests can browse the album, whether they can download photos, and whether new uploads need your approval before they appear. Viewing and downloads are on by default, approval is off by default.
3. **Step 3: Design and print the QR code** Download the code and put it on table cards, a welcome sign, stickers or the back of the menu. Paid plans include QR design templates, and the free [QR sticker designer](/qr-sticker-designer) works with any plan.
4. **Step 4: Test it once** Scan the printed code with two different phones, ideally one iPhone and one Android, and upload a test photo. Delete the test afterwards.
5. **Step 5: Tell guests on the day** A sign at the entrance, a card on each table and one mention from the MC during dinner do most of the work. After that, the album fills itself.

> **Timing tip: the upload window starts when you create the event**
>
> On paid plans guests can upload for 3 months (Starter), 6 months (Standard) or 12 months (Pro), counted from the day you create the event. If your wedding is far away, create the album closer to the date or choose a plan with a longer window.

## How It Works for Guests: Scan, Pick, Upload

The guest side is designed for the least technical person at your wedding. This is everything a guest does.

1. **Step 1: Scan the QR code** They open the regular camera app and point it at the code. A link pops up, and one tap opens your album in the phone browser.
2. **Step 2: Pick photos and videos** They choose shots from their camera roll or take new ones. Several files can go up at once, in full resolution, up to 200 MB per file.
3. **Step 3: See them in the album** Uploads appear in the shared gallery, or wait for your approval if you switched moderation on. If you allow it, guests can browse and download the album too.
4. **Step 4: Optional extras** Depending on your plan, guests can leave a voice message in the [audio guestbook](/features/audio-guestbook), pick a [photo mission](/features/photo-missions) before they shoot, or find every photo they appear in with [AI selfie search](/features/ai-selfie-search).

> **Why no app matters**
>
> Every extra step loses guests. An app means an app store, a password and free storage space, and many older relatives stop right there. A browser link works on any modern iPhone or Android phone without installing anything. More on the [no app download](/features/no-app-download-needed) page.

## Pix Wedding Features, Grouped by Plan

Every paid plan includes unlimited photos and videos. The higher plans add tools for the reception itself and longer access afterwards. Each card below names the plans that include it.

- **Private QR code and link:** Each album gets its own code. It is never public and never part of a social feed. **Every plan, including Free.**
- **Film roll mode:** A digital disposable camera: photos stay hidden until the reveal time you set, and you can cap shots per guest. **All paid plans.** [How it works](/features/film-roll-mode)
- **Full-album ZIP download:** Download everything at once in original quality, ready to back up or send to a print shop. **All paid plans.**
- **Live slideshow:** New uploads play on a TV or projector at the venue, straight from a browser. **Standard and Pro.** [See the slideshow](/features/live-slideshow)
- **Sub-albums:** Split the gallery into up to 6 sub-albums, such as ceremony, reception and after-party, all under one QR code. **Standard and Pro.**

- **Photographer upload link:** Your photographer uploads into a separate album inside the same gallery, with no account needed. **Standard and Pro.**
- **AI selfie search:** Guests take one selfie and see every photo they appear in. Face data stays private to your event and is deleted with it. **Pro.**
- **Multiple admins:** Add co-hosts so a planner, parent or friend can help manage the album. Pro also adds priority support and a custom domain. **Pro.**

## Privacy and Host Controls

The album belongs to the couple. Guests can add to it, but only hosts can take anything away.

- **Private by default:** The album is reachable only through its QR code or link. It never appears in a public feed. [About the private QR code](/features/private-qr-code)
- **Approve before it appears:** Switch on moderation and nothing shows in the gallery until you approve it. Off by default.
- **Guest viewing on or off:** Let guests browse the album, or make it upload-only so only you see the photos. On by default.
- **Guest downloads on or off:** Allow or block guests from downloading photos from the gallery. On by default.
- **Only hosts can delete:** Delete single uploads or bulk-delete from your dashboard. Guests cannot delete photos, so nothing disappears by accident.
- **Roles for helpers:** On Pro, invite co-hosts by email as admins or view-only helpers, so a planner or parent can help manage the album.

## What You End Up With After the Wedding

We analysed our own data from 203 weddings on Pix Wedding with 40,531 guest uploads in total. The typical album held **149 photos and videos** (the median), and the middle half of weddings landed between 70 and 253. The average was higher, 197, because a few very active weddings pull it up. The largest album had 1,365 uploads, and just 3 guests sent them.

- **149 uploads:** Median album size across 203 weddings
- **8 guests uploading:** Median number of guests who uploaded per wedding (average 9.8)
- **About 17 each:** Median uploads per guest who took part
- **1,365 uploads:** Largest album in the dataset, sent by 3 guests

The lesson for planning: a handful of keen guests usually carries the album, so your job is to make uploading easy enough that more people join in. Signs on every table and one announcement matter more than any feature. Full methodology is on our [wedding guest photo upload statistics](/wedding-guest-photo-upload-statistics) page.

**Try it with your own QR code**

## Checklist: Before, During and After the Wedding

**Before the wedding**

- [ ] Create the album and pick a plan whose upload window covers your date
- [ ] Set guest viewing, download and approval settings
- [ ] Print the QR code on table cards, a welcome sign or stickers
- [ ] Test the code with an iPhone and an Android phone
- [ ] Ask the MC or DJ to mention the album once during dinner
- [ ] On Standard or Pro, set up sub-albums, photo missions and the slideshow screen

**On the day**

- [ ] Put a QR sign at the entrance and a QR card on every table
- [ ] Have the album announced after the toasts, when phones are already out
- [ ] Run the live slideshow on a TV or projector if your plan includes it
- [ ] Send the photographer upload link to your photographer (Standard and Pro)

**After the wedding**

- [ ] Send one reminder with the album link a day or two later, when guests go through their camera rolls

- [ ] Note the date your storage window ends

For a step-by-step way to keep every file safe long term, see [how to back up wedding photos, from guests too](/how-to-back-up-wedding-photos).

## When Pix Wedding Is Not the Right Pick

It fits most weddings, but not every one. These are the cases where something else may serve you better.

- **Tiny weddings:** If ten people are coming and everyone is already in one group chat, a shared chat album or the free plan is enough.
- **Guests without smartphones:** If most guests do not carry a camera phone, disposable cameras on the tables or a photographer will cover more.
- **Phone-free weddings:** If you ask guests to put phones away all day, there is little to collect. Many couples go unplugged for the ceremony only and open the album for the reception.
- **Albums kept online forever:** Paid plans store the album for 6, 12 or 24 months. Download the ZIP and keep your own copy for the long run.
- **Replacing a photographer:** Guest photos are candid and uneven by nature. They add to a photographer's coverage, they do not replace it.

## Pix Wedding vs Other Ways to Collect Guest Photos

These are the common alternatives and where each one fits. For app-by-app comparisons, see our [comparison hub](/compare) and the [best wedding photo sharing apps](/best-wedding-photo-sharing-app) roundup.

**Shared Google Photos album** (Free)
Best for: Families where most guests already use Google Photos.
- Pro: Free within your Google storage
- Pro: Familiar to many guests
- Con: Guests need a Google account to add photos
- Con: No approval queue, QR design or wedding extras

**Wedding hashtag** (Free)
Best for: Guests who post to Instagram anyway.
- Pro: Free and easy to explain
- Pro: Posts double as social sharing
- Con: You only see posts from public accounts
- Con: Compressed copies, and most photos never get posted

**Disposable cameras** (Cameras plus developing)
Best for: Couples who want the film look as a table activity.
- Pro: Nostalgic and fun
- Pro: Works for guests without phones
- Con: Some cameras go missing or come back half used
- Con: You wait for developing, and there is no video

**Pix Wedding** (Free, then $49 to $89 once)
Best for: Couples who want every guest photo and video in one private place without asking anyone to install anything.
- Pro: No app and no account for guests
- Pro: Full-resolution photos and videos with ZIP download
- Pro: Host controls plus optional reception extras
- Con: The free plan stops at 20 guest uploads
- Con: Storage is time-limited, so keep your own copy

> **The film look without the cameras**
>
> If the disposable camera feeling is what you want, [film roll mode](/features/film-roll-mode) hides photos until a reveal time and can cap shots per guest, on any paid plan.

## Is Pix Wedding Legit? Security, Reviews and Support

Pix Wedding runs at pix.wedding, and the app works in English, German, Spanish and Turkish. The 203-wedding dataset above comes from real albums hosted on the platform. Couples can leave a review after their event, and you can read them on our [reviews page](/reviews).

On security: albums are private by default and only reachable through their link or QR code, uploads travel over an encrypted HTTPS connection, and hosts decide who can view and download. For AI selfie search, face data stays private to your event and is deleted together with it. Pricing is shown up front as one payment, and the refund rule above applies if nothing gets uploaded.

## Your Next Steps

1. Create a free album and scan the QR code yourself to see the guest view
2. Pick a plan by what you want at the reception: Starter for collection, Standard for the slideshow and guestbook, Pro for selfie search and the longest access
3. Design your QR card with the free [QR sticker designer](/qr-sticker-designer)
4. Read [how to collect photos from wedding guests](/how-to-collect-photos-from-wedding-guests) for sign wording and placement ideas

**Your guests' photos, one QR code away**

Start free with 20 guest uploads, no card. When you need more room, a one-off $49 payment removes the cap on photos and videos.
